I serve as webmaster for this site. I was a member of SRF (Self-Realization Fellowship) from 1966 to approximately 1972. I have lived in the Ananda Communities since 1976. We are disciples of Paramhansa Yogananda, and students of the Master's direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda. In my view, SRF has two distinct sides - the one that inspired me when I was new on the path – namely, the transparent devotion and saintliness if its leaders. On the other hand, I have my experience of living in spiritual communities where Master's teachings are followed in the spirit he originally intended. That spirit is clearly described in Swami Kriyananda's books, including Yogananda for the World, and in Swami Kriyananda: Lightbearer, a 600-plus-page account by Asha Nayaswami, a close associate of Swamiji's whom he asked to record the story of Ananda. In my 49 years with Ananda, I have never known Ananda or Swami Kriyananda to hold an animus toward SRF or its members. Always, Kriyananda's statements and actions have been impersonally aimed at correcting attitudes and directions in SRF that contradict those he saw personally in Master, and that Yogananda explicitly espoused.
